Sara & Thad’s wedding designed by Simone Lennon is where elegance meets playful meets bold & inspiring! Let’s just knock off the obvious here, hello gorgeous flowers! Waterlily Pond designed a 24ft floral chandelier that hung above guests below, a design where Sara instantly burst into tears upon seeing it. But do you wanna know what I love the most? Sara & Thad’s kindness, love, and happiness shining through and the heightened importance of family, tradition and meaning. I love that Sara naturally held her mom’s hand while her bridesmaids helped with finishing touches, and Sara’s beautiful lacy princess gown that single handedly stole the show, and I love that both Sara’s parents walked her down the aisle, I could go on and on.
There’s always a good ‘behind the scenes’ story with every wedding I photograph, but there’s was one thing in particular about this day that I’ll never forget. In the midst of all the wedding excitement, Thad took a moment to ask me how I was and then genuinely remembered my dogs and asked how they were. I was caught off guard because it wasn’t your typical “how are you?” it was more like, let’s sit for five minutes and tell me all about your cute pups. It felt sincere, but most importantly made me feel like I was more than just their wedding photographer.
I work so hard in sharing my journey and all the things I care so deeply about. That moment with Thad is one of those ‘aha moments’ that tells me that all this over sharing is actually working and I’m attracting the kind of people that appreciate my weirdness, my art, my passion, my soul. The law of attraction runs deep! I’m so invested in my clients and their happiness and as more seasoned I become with weddings I find myself a little more emotional about the entire experience. Many of my clients turn into friends and the greatest joy is the happiness they feel when they see my work. But to get there is an adventure; I’m the kind of photographer that wants to get to know you more. I feel that if I’m asking you to be vulnerable, then I need to do the same. And so when a client catches me by surprise and wants the same? Well, that’s what I call magic. So thank you Thad and Sara for reminding me why I love my job so much—and why I do this. I love, love. I love good people. I love great stories. I love family. I love good dinner parties. I love pretty design. I love it all. P.S. Sara & Thad’s wedding is currently featured in print in The Knot California! xoxo
